Practicing Street Crossing

VTree Inc.’s new Virtual Reality Practicing Street Crossing is designed for parents and teachers to practice the concepts of street crossing safety with children and adults. Our software is intended to help teach individuals where, when, and how to cross the street safely. In our system we do not allow crossing anywhere except at the proper crosswalk and when the light and street signals tell them they can cross. If they attempt to cross the street anywhere else in the program, we pause the program and explain to them why they cannot cross the street at this location, and put them back at the starting point to try again.

Why Street Crossing?
Four years ago, we surveyed parents from various special needs organizations, and asked what was the number one problem they felt needed to be addressed through the use of virtual reality software to improve their family's quality of life. The overwhelming consensus was for a practicing street crossing program.  We developed the idea and were awarded a federal grant to create this program. During the early developmental testing of this program, it was soon noted that not only would this system be an invaluable product for children and adults with developmental difficulties, but would also be valuable for anyone needing to practice these critical skills.  Since that time, we have received tremendous support from numerous parents, teachers, and organizations, who still work with us to continually develop and improve this software.

Pricing:
We promised the parents from the many organizations that helped us that we would make this product affordable for everyone. We are making our system available for home use at $29.99 and the extended school version at $99.00.

Helping others when you purchase:
The disk for every Practicing Street Crossing program will be burned at Ken-Crest Employnet in Pottstown, PA.  Employnet offers employment opportunities that build careers for people with developmental disabilities.
